Overview
Matresa is developing a clinical-grade maternal health platform that combines AI, behavioural science, and clinical expertise to deliver continuous, personalised care for women from pregnancy through the first 18 months after birth. The system offers early screening and diagnostics to identify risks and complications, aiming to shift maternal care from reactive treatment to preventative intervention. Beyond supporting mothers, the platform also supplies employers with visibility and insights during maternity leave, addressing the high rate of female workforce attrition after childbirth. Founder and former PICU nurse Mari-Carmen Sanchez-Morris created Matresa after witnessing gaps in maternal support both professionally and personally. Set to launch this summer in the UK, the product targets the one in five women who experience serious complications or mental-health issues postpartum and seeks to curb the estimated £13–£15 billion annual economic burden of preventable maternal health problems. While still pre-revenue, the company has attracted early investor interest and plans to use fresh capital to finalise product development and scale its rollout across the country. The focus remains on empowering mothers, improving health outcomes, and reducing employer costs linked to maternity-related workforce turnover.
