Overview
Mattiq has launched a "chemistry for climate" platform that pairs nanotechnology with artificial intelligence to speed discovery and deployment of new materials for the energy transition. The company synthesizes and evaluates millions of potential combinations in parallel and is building what it describes as the world’s most powerful materials AI. Mattiq is focused on commercializing clean electrochemical production of critical products, including e-chemicals and e-fuels, and on reducing dependence on scarce materials like iridium. Its stated goals include lowering supply-chain volatility and scope 3 emissions and enabling a circular economy in which products are made from renewable feedstocks and electricity. The company was spun out of Northwestern University and was formerly known as Stoicheia; Chad Mirkin is the founder and director. Mattiq announced a $15 million seed financing and the hiring of Jeff Erhardt as CEO to support its commercialization efforts.
