MaxRewards is an Atlanta-based digital wallet app that manages credit cards and automatically activates benefits like rewards, cashback offers and monthly credits. The app cross-references a user’s purchase location with the merchant and applies an algorithm to recommend which card will yield the best reward at the point of purchase. MaxRewards leverages proprietary connectors to card systems rather than third-party aggregators. The app version launched in 2019; the founders conceived the idea in 2017. The average app user has six credit cards. MaxRewards is free to download with most features available for free, while a paid MaxRewards Gold tier lets users choose a monthly price (the average is over $25 per month).
