Overview
Founded in 2016, MaxWell Biosystems provides high-content electrophysiology platforms to advance scientific discovery and accelerate drug discovery for neurodegenerative diseases. Its first product, MaxOne, is a high-density microelectrode (HD-MEA) system with thousands of electrodes that simultaneously sense the small electrical signals of neuronal cells. The company launched MaxTwo, a multiwell HD-MEA platform that increases throughput to 6- and 24-well plates, targeting pharmaceutical and biotech companies, contract research organisations, and academic research laboratories. The technology enables investigation of cell activity in vitro at network, cellular, and subcellular levels. Moving into a growth phase, MaxWell has secured new capital to industrialise and scale up production of its HD-MEA plates. The company has strengthened its commercial and manufacturing partnership with Sensirion to support high-volume packaging and production.
