MDA develops AI systems that capture expert surgeons’ techniques and workflows to provide real-time decision support and training via its Virtual Proctor platform. Its software ingests data from EHRs, imaging and robotic sensors to generate dynamic risk assessments and adaptive feedback during procedures. The company offers a digital training platform that codifies protocols, videos and measurable surgical parameters for education and device demonstration. MDA has established three partnerships with major medical-technology companies and is designing explainable-AI modules to ensure clinician trust and broad applicability. The founding team—Dr Gunter Trojandt, Annett Christ and Daniel Bauer—previously built the Surgical Process Institute, which was acquired by Johnson & Johnson in 2017. With €3.3M in seed funding, MDA plans to double its team and hire AI, clinical-research and product-integration experts, expand its network of clinical knowledge providers, and accelerate development and commercialization of its assistance and training solutions.
