Overview

ME+EM designs flattering, functional, contemporary luxury clothing for busy women and sells almost entirely online through a direct-to-consumer model. The brand was founded in 2009 by Clare Hornby and is built around an "intelligent style" ethos and modular "fashion lego" approach to dressing. ME+EM combines a data-driven, purpose-led product strategy with direct relationships with family-run factories to offer sustainably sourced, high-quality pieces at accessible prices. The company reports being highly profitable and achieved triple-digit revenue growth in 2021, having quadrupled revenues over three years; the US is its fastest-growing geography. ME+EM operates six London boutiques and concessions in Harrods and Selfridges, and plans New York and Boston stores in 2023 while accelerating expansion into continental Europe, Australia, Canada, the Middle East, Switzerland, and Hong Kong. Sustainability is central to the brand: it participates in Better Cotton, SEDEX, and the Ethical Trading Initiative, used natural/recycled materials for over half of its SS21 collection, and pursues a zero-landfill policy through donations of trims and write-off stock.
