MedDay

24-26 Rue de la Pépinière, Paris, Ile-de-France, 75008, France

Overview

MedDay is a privately held biotechnology company developing drugs that target brain metabolism to treat nervous system diseases. Its wholly‑owned lead candidate, MD1003, is a high‑dose pharmaceutical‑grade biotin in phase 3 for primary and secondary progressive multiple sclerosis and is already supplied in some European countries under named‑patient use. MD1003 has shown efficacy in prior phase‑3 studies (MS‑SPI and MS‑ON) and is believed to act on fatty‑acid synthesis and the Krebs cycle to support myelin synthesis and axonal metabolism. The new funds will enable a confirmatory phase‑3 study in the United States (SPI2) to confirm prior European results and support international development. MedDay will also use the proceeds to accelerate pre‑launch activities in Europe, advance other pipeline candidates, and develop a research platform to identify new metabolic targets in neurological diseases. The company was founded in 2011 and has ongoing named‑patient sales that accompany its clinical program. MedDay is a biotech company focused on developing therapies for neuro-metabolic and neuropsychiatric diseases. The company’s technology platform leverages work by Dr Frédéric Sedel, a neuroscientist at La Pitié Salpêtrière Hospital. MedDay is incubated at l’Institut du Cerveau et de la Moelle épinière (ICM) in Paris and was founded in 2011 by Dr Frédéric Sedel and Dr Guillaume Brion. It plans to use recent funding to advance three compounds through development, including a progressive multiple sclerosis candidate, MD 1103 for a subgroup of resistant psychoses, and MD 1105 for Alzheimer’s disease. The company also intends to develop an R&D platform in partnership with the Metabolomics Team at the Institute for Biology and Technology, Commissariat à l’énergie atomique (CEA, Saclay).
