Meddik is building a personalized health-search platform that aggregates user-submitted content, public and academic information, and alternative remedies to surface the best answers for individual health queries. The team created a large ontology mapping common health language to medical codes and computes a clinical similarity index to connect searchers with anonymous users who have similar conditions. Meddik is positioning itself as a health network that prioritizes personalized matches over generic search results and forums. The product is in early development: the company is building its MVP and operating a closed beta with a few hundred early participants. The founders, Tim Soo (currently on leave from the University of Pennsylvania) and Ben Shyong, are Blueprint Health accelerator graduates. Meddik plans to monetize by leveraging its unique dataset to serve targeted health advertising once the site is fully functional. The company has raised seed funding to support development and launch.
