Mediflash operates a freelancer marketplace that matches caregivers with healthcare facilities such as nursing homes, clinics and mental health facilities. Rather than hiring caregivers on payroll like traditional temp staffing agencies, the company positions itself as a platform where professionals sign up as freelancers and facilities book short-term shifts. The platform takes a cut on each transaction and says caregivers can earn up to 20% more while facilities end up paying less. Co-founder Léopold Treppoz noted many caregivers (students, part-time workers, and full-time substitutes) are willing to freelance despite losing employee benefits such as unemployment insurance. To date Mediflash has managed 1,400 substitute days and uses a sales team to onboard facilities one by one, currently focusing on Metz, Nancy and Strasbourg. The company recently raised $2 million (€1.7M) led by Firstminute Capital with participation from business angels Alexandre Fretti, Alexandre Lebrun, Simon Dawlat and Marie Outtier, and plans to expand to other cities around the country.
