MEDIVIS
920 Broadway, New York, NY, 10010, United States
Overview
Medivis develops augmented reality and artificial intelligence technologies aimed at advancing surgical care across multiple specialties. The company has partnered with leading medical centers including MD Anderson Cancer Center, Providence Health, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Northwell Health and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. It has also expanded a partnership with the Veterans Health Administration. Medivis plans to use its recent funding to scale engineering, obtain regulatory clearances and globally commercialize its products across neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery, interventional radiology and reconstructive surgery. The company was founded in 2016 by Dr. Osamah Choudhry and Dr. Christopher Morley and is based in New York. Medivis develops SurgicalAR, an augmented reality platform that integrates and visualizes patient medical imaging for pre-surgical planning. Its product suite includes a touchscreen monitor, display and AR headset that plugs into a hospital network and extracts imaging to render 3D models in about 30 seconds. Those models are mapped back to patients to help surgeons localize pathology and plan operations; the company says it has consulted on 15 surgeries and worked with the University of Pennsylvania and New York University to bring prototypes into surgical settings. Medivis is integrating machine learning to surface the most relevant information from medical records and to automate its 3D rendering pipeline. The company has partnerships with Dell and Microsoft to supply hardware. Medivis raised $2.3 million in financing led by Initialized Capital to launch SurgicalAR and bring its technology to market.
