MEDU Protection

Mexico City, Distrito Federal, Mexico

Overview

MEDU develops reusable, virus-resistant medical garments made from fabric certified AAMI PB70 level 4, offering maximum fluid and microbial barrier protection. Its products include surgical gowns, head coverings and a full-body suit in development, and garments are embedded with NFC tags tracked via a mobile app to monitor up to 50 washes. After 50 uses garments are returned to MEDU for disinfection and conversion into scrubs and sustainable packaging. The company began trials in Mexican hospitals after an initial $400,000 investment, has approval in Mexico and is working with five hospitals there as well as hospitals in New York and Los Angeles. MEDU is profitable, reporting revenue growth of 6x each month, and since January has deployed roughly 7,000 pieces (equivalent to 3 million disposables). It is pursuing FDA approval (expected later this year), applying for EU approval, and planning U.S. expansion and partnerships with up to 15 U.S. hospitals by year-end.
