Meducation is an online education network that provides medical students and professionals with access to 30,000+ community resources including tutorials, videos, images, slideshows and podcasts. The site includes Question & Answer functionality to enable members to get answers from the online community, combining e-learning with peer support. Meducation claims a membership of more than 35,000 medical students and professionals worldwide, with 33 percent of UK medical students already using the network. Founded by Dr Alastair Buick and Jeremy Walker and launched in April 2008, the company positions itself as a social enterprise. Buick says the business will generate revenue from high-income countries via premium content subscriptions to subsidize provision of resources in lower-income markets. The product focus and membership scale underpin the company’s go-to-market and monetization plans.
