Medumo provides automated patient-preparation software that sends procedure reminders and mobile-optimized instructions via text message, sometimes including images and video. The platform delivers step-by-step preparation guidance and links to patients to improve readiness for hospital procedures. In a clinical study of more than 4,000 patients the company reported reducing no-shows by over 50% and improving preparedness by over 40%. For hospitals this resulted in roughly $0.5 million to $1 million in annual revenue recovered from procedures that would have been canceled. Medumo is currently working with 13 hospitals and is focused on seven specialties; it plans to use new funding to partner with more institutions and expand beyond those specialties. The company has collaborated with Massachusetts General Hospital, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Brigham and Women's through its participation in the 2018 PULSE@MassChallenge accelerator.
