MedZed operates a telemedicine house-call platform that uses in-home caregivers, telemedicine communications, proprietary technology and remote medical devices to assist physicians with real-time examinations and treatments. The company raised $3.2M in venture capital funding and intends to use the proceeds to continue developing its platform. MedZed began conducting home-based care in Atlanta in 2014 and expanded to New York the summer before the article. It planned to launch a program in the fourth quarter of 2015 with a large healthcare delivery system in Southern California. The company is led by co-founder and CEO Scott Schnell and co-founder, chief strategist and chief medical officer Neil A. Solomon, MD. The backers for the round remained undisclosed.
