MeetYourFriends is a back-to-basics social network built around simple sign-up, fast search, Direct Messages and Live Chat. The site was developed by Neil Bryant, one of the founders of Badoo.com, and targets 30- and 40-somethings seeking casual chat. It launched publicly rather than in a limited private beta. The product intentionally omits features like open APIs, virtual avatars, games or virtual farms and emphasizes a static PC interface with a possible future notebook version. The company has stated it will not change its privacy policy or allow advertising once settled. The press release disclosed the company received $50 million in first-round equity funding from venture investors.
