Mekitec develops X-ray scanning technology that lets users identify and remove foreign objects such as metal, glass, sand, bone chips and pieces of plastic from food packages. The company raised €2.2m to support its development and expansion. It intends to use the new funds to develop its R&D and production, accelerating growth and internationalization. Founded in 2006 and led by Managing Director Mikko Nuutinen, Mekitec employs 50 people. The company has R&D and production operations in Finland and Xi’an, China, and sales offices in Hong Kong, Germany and the USA. Mekitec has delivered food safety equipment in 18 countries across three continents.
