Founded in 2022 in Munich by Prof. Dr. Benjamin Wolf, Simone Sabbione and Martin Sabbione, Meliodays Medical is building MelioOne, a hormone-free, locally acting therapy that releases micro-doses of analgesics directly in the uterus to alleviate menstrual pain. The approach leverages a proven polymer technology, targeting pain at its source while avoiding systemic adverse effects associated with high-dose oral medications or hormones. Period pain affects about 80 % of menstruating people, with up to 30 % experiencing debilitating symptoms, and the company aims to restore their quality of life. Its platform could also be extended to indications such as endometriosis, and patent protection has already been secured in more than 150 countries. The start-up recently secured an oversubscribed pre-seed round exceeding €800 000, providing the resources to complete preparations for preclinical testing of its intra-uterine application. The infusion of capital underpins continued product development and early regulatory planning. To date, Meliodays Medical’s external funding stands at just over €800 000.
