MelodyVR is a UK-based virtual reality music startup that lets fans virtually experience live concerts and recording-studio sessions. Users can view performances from vantage points "the side of the stage" to deep in the crowd via VR headsets such as Oculus Rift and Google Daydream View. The company has signed partnerships with major labels, co-creating and distributing VR content with Warner (December) and Universal (March). CEO Anthony Matchett described MelodyVR as delivering the next generation of music content, likening its potential to MTV and Spotify. MelodyVR completed a £5 million funding round and said the capital will be used to fuel global expansion, reach more artists and partners, and attract more consumers. The startup’s technology aims to deliver accessible immersive music experiences across multiple VR platforms.
