Silicon Biosystems S.p.A. develops an integrated platform—machines, chips, software and reagents—for extraction and analysis of rare cells based on the principle of dielectrophoresis. The platform targets biomedical and clinical applications and supports clinical testing of medical uses. The company received a €5m capital infusion in a venture capital financing to continue development activities, advance clinical testing, and expand abroad. Atlante Ventures committed €2m as a co-leader of the round alongside Innogest Capital, with participation from a group of undisclosed business angels. As part of the financing, Aurelio Mezzotero (Investment Director, Atlante Ventures) and Fabrizio Landi (Managing Director and General Manager, Esaote) joined the board of directors. The company is headquartered in Bologna, Italy.
