Metabar’s platform enables publishers to build browser bar–type apps without writing code. The bars can display site content such as news tickers and headlines, push instant notifications, offer games and provide access to search engines. Metabar and its publisher partners monetize via an ad revenue-share option tied to search. The company is positioned as a Russian competitor to US-based Conduit and is currently targeting the Russian market alone. Notable partners include Vedomosti.ru, KP.ru and Kupivip.ru. Metabar has raised $1M from local seed-stage VC Runa Capital. Management says the platform can help sites with million-plus visitors convert casual users into regular audiences.
