Overview
Metamarkets provides a real-time interactive analytics platform that helps customers understand and act in programmatic media marketplaces. It serves clients such as Twitter, AOL and LinkedIn, delivering real-time information and actionable insights. The company recently announced general availability of its Metamarkets API, enabling clients to pull data into their own systems and build web applications on Metamarkets’ infrastructure. Metamarkets closed a $14.25M credit facility to support its operations. Management says the funds will be used to expand the engineering team and invest in real-time data processing infrastructure. The company is led by CEO Mike Driscoll, VP of Sales & Client Services Casey Steele, and VP of Engineering Nhan Phan, and is backed by Khosla Ventures, Data Collective, IA Ventures, Village Ventures, True Ventures and Founder Collective. Metamarkets builds real-time analytics for ad platforms and marketplaces, helping customers track traffic, revenue, and make policy decisions. The company announced $15 million in new funding last month. CEO Mike Driscoll says Metamarkets may explore adjacencies such as user engagement and mobile payments while maintaining focus on its core ad-tech business. Metamarkets’ product was an early tool for MoPub and became “indispensable” to that team. Named clients include Vungle, Millennial Media, and the Financial Times. Jim Payne, founder and former CEO of MoPub, has joined the board to fill its independent seat. Metamarkets aggregates billions of electronic media transactions to deliver dynamic price data, proprietary price and volume aggregations, and analytic media market views for sell-side media principals. The company serves ad server, order insertion, targeting, audience, conversion and other data to enable publishers and media companies to shift strategy in realtime. Its core product focuses on ad price discovery across mobile and web platforms. Metamarkets launched in late 2009 and was founded by David Soloff and Michael Driscoll. The startup is currently serving its data to a number of media companies, though it declined to name customers. The company says it will use the new funding to build out its engineering team.
