metaMe Health develops Prescription Digital Therapeutics (PDTs) and is the developer of Regulora, an FDA-authorized PDT for abdominal pain associated with IBS in adults. Regulora is a mobile app that delivers Gut-Directed Hypnotherapy through seven 30-minute sessions and additional practice over a 12-week course, enabling patients to access therapy privately rather than via in-person clinicians. The app is intended to treat all three IBS subtypes and to improve control of digestive function and mitigate pain sensation. metaMe announced a $2.2M bridge financing to support preparation for Regulora’s market launch and to build out commercial infrastructure. Ken Greisman of Hyde Park Angels joined the company’s board as part of the round. The company is preparing for a commercial launch in the second half of 2022 and plans to pursue a Series A following this bridge financing. The product guides patients into deep relaxation and uses metaphors and stories to improve comfort and symptoms across IBS subtypes. MetaMe was founded in 2016 and initially focused on connecting licensed hypnotherapists with IBS patients before shifting to a technology-delivered therapy to scale access and collect data. The company plans to use a newly raised $3.8M seed to run a pivotal trial as part of its pathway toward FDA clearance, with the trial expected to launch in the next couple months and wrap up next year. MetaMe is also targeting additional GI indications including inflammatory bowel disease and gastroesophageal reflux disease.
