Metatheory builds Web3 games and virtual worlds around original story franchise IPs, using blockchain primitives to enable shared ownership and community-driven storytelling. Its first franchise, DuskBreakers, launched in December 2021 as a sci‑fi metaverse experience and sold out 10,000 Genesis NFTs in six days via a free-to-play "Play-to-Mint" game. In January 2022 the company released a second free-to-play minigame, Beast Battler, and it plans additional NFT drops, games, and content throughout the year. Metatheory aims to extend its franchises beyond games into comics, animations, and multi-platform narratives where community choices shape the universe. The company has a team of 40+ industry veterans and founders including Kevin Lin (CEO), David Barthwell and JT Gleason. Metatheory announced a $24M Series A to support development toward a full free-to-play Play-and-Earn game scheduled for launch in Q4.
