Overview

MetoMotion develops intelligent robotic systems for the greenhouse industry, centered on its GRoW harvesting robot that uses AI-based 3D perception and dual arms to harvest and pack crops. The platform applies flexible motion control and path-planning for precise movement between plants and automatically collects data during harvesting for yield forecasts and distribution analyses. GRoW is designed to integrate with existing production procedures by packing crops into standard industry boxes and can be adapted to other labor‑intensive tasks such as pruning, pollination, de-leafing, and cultivation data collection. Led by CEO Adi Nir, the company will use the funds to finalize R&D, set up production and marketing activities, and launch the commercial product. MetoMotion raised $5M in funding led by Ridder and Navus Ventures. Founded in 2016 as a portfolio company of The Trendlines Group with support from the Israel Innovation Authority and investment from the Technion DRIVE Accelerator, it also received a €2M grant from the European Commission in 2019 and is based in Yokneam, Israel. MetoMotion’s core product is the GRoW (Greenhouse Robotic Worker), an autonomous vehicle that combines advanced 3D vision systems and machine-vision algorithms to locate ripe fruit, coordinate multiple custom robotic arms, use a damage-free harvesting end-effector, and box produce onboard. The system is designed for seamless integration with existing greenhouse infrastructure and the company says the technology can be adapted for pruning, pollination, de-leafing and cultivation data collection. MetoMotion is a small, two-person management team led by CEO Adi Nir and CTO Omer Nir and is a portfolio company of The Trendlines Group in Israel. The team estimates high-tech greenhouses—primarily in northern Europe—make up roughly 10% of the total greenhouse market and calculates a first target market potential of more than $1 billion at one GRoW per hectare. Company estimates claim growers could achieve a return on investment in fewer than three years. With the new funding the company says it can bring its first product to market.
