Metxa operates as an accelerator that selects startups and runs an acceleration programme for entrepreneurs. GCRPV, through the Basque FCR fund, invested €100,000 into Metxa’s share capital. The funds raised will be directed to investments in startups chosen by the accelerator to participate in its programme. Basque FCR’s strategy, as stated in the article, allocates €23 million to equity investments across company stages and reserves €5 million to favour entrepreneurship. To date Metxa has invested in Boat Jump, White Spell, Dog Vivant, Thebest5, BriteShoes and Ship Net Premium, with an average ticket of about €75,000 per project. The transaction is presented by regional entrepreneurship authorities as a step to support the local entrepreneurial ecosystem.
