Mezli
1007 Howard Ave, San Mateo, CA, 94401, United States
Overview
Mezli builds fully autonomous modular restaurants that combine robotics with a human‑supplemented kitchen to produce Mediterranean‑style grain bowls, side dishes and drinks. Its prototype occupies a 10‑foot by 20‑foot freestanding unit at KitchenTown in San Mateo and currently makes a minority of bowls while humans supplement production. Bowls start at $6.99, and the test location has shown early traction: 44% of customers who tried the food have become repeat customers. The company was founded by Stanford engineers Alex Kolchinski, Alex Gruebele and Max Perham and partnered with Michelin‑star chef Eric Minnich. Mezli is iterating on a third prototype that it plans to ready for a public launch next year. The startup plans to mass produce the modular restaurants and scale to a few locations before rapid deployment, targeting 1,000 locations faster than traditional restaurants; it raised a $3 million seed round to add talent, parts, food and cover operational expenses.
