MicroCHIPS is a Bedford, MA–based developer of implantable intelligent systems that sense physiologic signals and deliver therapy. Its lead diabetes program uses an implant designed to sense real-time glucose changes and transmit data to a mobile device to improve glycemic management. The company also has an advanced-development osteoporosis device intended to automatically deliver precise doses of an anabolic bone-building agent. MicroCHIPS will use the new equity financing to advance these lead programs. During 2010 the company planned initial clinical testing to advance its diabetes program. The financing supports continued development and clinical advancement of both monitoring and therapy solutions.
