Overview

Microverse is an online school for remote software developers founded by Ariel Camus in 2017 that teaches via cohort-based learning, real-time peer pairing and a curated curriculum. Students pay nothing upfront and the company offers an Income Share Agreement available in every country. Courses cover JavaScript, React, Ruby, Ruby on Rails and computer science fundamentals, and the platform also helps with portfolios, resumes and interview preparation. The company reports that 75% of its students are from Africa and Latin America, over 1,500 students from 140+ countries have completed the programme, and it claims a job placement rate of over 90% within six months with graduates receiving an average 300% salary increase. Applicants grew from 10,000 to 30,000 per month last year, and more than 400 companies, including Deloitte, HSBC and Microsoft, hire Microverse alumni. The company operates remotely with its CEO based in Barcelona and intends to use new capital to continue scaling and to double its team over the next 18 months as part of a mission to bring a million people from developing countries into the global remote workforce by 2030. Microverse operates an online coding academy that uses a cohort-based, peer-to-peer learning model and a curriculum designed for a diverse range of candidates. Its program emphasizes collaboration and remote-work skills alongside technical training to prepare students for distributed teams. Students come from 118 countries; the company projects more than 1,000 full-time students this year and receives about 10,000 applicants per month, with roughly 75% of students from Africa and Latin America. Microverse reports that 95% of graduates are hired within six months and that students do not pay tuition until they secure a job. The company plans to use a new $12.5M venture investment to scale its platform, aiming to triple capacity over the next 18 months and to add 40 employees to its current team of 20. Founder Ariel Camus said his goal is to train 1 million students and connect them with companies around the world. Microverse operates an online, English-only coding curriculum that uses Income Share Agreements (ISAs) to let students learn now and pay later. The program has no full-time instructors; content is self-guided and more advanced students serve as mentors while learners work with study partners and peer groups. Students are expected to study roughly eight hours per day and graduate in about eight months on average. Microverse reports students in 96 countries, with Mexico, Brazil, Kenya, Nigeria, Cameroon and India among its most represented markets, and it admits about 1% of applicants, adding roughly 70–80 students per month. Its ISA requires graduates to pay 15% of salary once they earn more than $1,000 per month until $15,000 is repaid, with no time cap. The company says the model keeps costs low by avoiding hired teachers and enables rapid scaling to serve developing-country students.
