Midori Network shifted from a sustainable-eyewear business to become a distributed recycling expert focused on mobile, container-based recycling modules. Its core product is a deployable mobile recycling unit designed for rural areas where large facilities are infeasible. The company plans to build 1,000 mobile recycling modules over the next seven years and aims to process about one million tonnes of plastic waste annually in markets such as China, Brazil, India, Pakistan and Indonesia. Midori raised $200K in pre-seed funding at COP28 to launch the first iteration of its mobile module. The round included a $200,000 contribution from angel investor Kirill Veselov, and Midori is part of the TECOM Group PJSC in5 incubator ecosystem. Founder Fedor Smirnov said the funds will help prove basic strategic assumptions and strengthen pathways to a more effective plastic recycling industry.
