MIKA curates complete outfits combining high-end and contemporary designers, letting shoppers buy whole looks or individual items, including exclusives pulled from designers’ showrooms. The site uses short, looping “GIF-like” videos plus behind-the-scenes footage and stylist interviews to create a visually driven shopping experience. MIKA launches an updated site on May 14 with looks rotated every 24 hours and support for international shipping, while offering free shipping or hand-delivery to NYC customers. The company is operating in a beta-like phase but reports a few thousand users, sold over 40 complete looks and 150 single items in the last month, and sees roughly a 60% margin on items sold. It has established relationships with about 120 designers (including Cynthia Rowley, Anna Sui, Vince, Norma Kamali and others) and works with industry photographers and bloggers; supermodel Bar Rafaeli also holds equity in the company.
