Astondo Bidea, edificio nº 612, Derio, Bizkaia, 48160, Spain
Overview
Mikrobiomik develops MBK-01, a biologic therapy based on its FSPIM® (Full Spectrum & Purified Intestinal Microbiota) delivered as lyophilized oral capsules to treat primary and recurrent Clostridioides difficile infections. The company is completing the phase III ICD-01 trial comparing MBK-01 to fidaxomicin; preliminary results are described as encouraging and final data were expected by the end of 2023. Mikrobiomik has supplied MBK-01 free to more than 25 patients via a compassionate-use program. The company plans to submit the regulatory dossier for MBK-01 to the European Medicines Agency via the centralized procedure and aims for a European market launch in the first half of 2025. Since its 2018 founding, it has been supported by investors including Orza and Seed Capital Bizkaia and has raised additional capital to advance development.
