Milk, founded by Kevin Rose, has launched its first mobile app, Oink, which lets people rate and discover things in the places around them. Oink is positioned as a directory and recommendation system for physical-world locations. Google Maps is a major component of Oink’s initial experience. Rose said they started talking to Google after closing their seed round and opened the round to Google because the firm had been adding value. The company has raised a total of $1.7 million in its seed round to date, up from $1.5 million raised in April. Rose intends to build more Google technology into future updates of Oink.
