Overview
Milk Stork provides a breast-milk shipping service that enables working mothers to send expressed milk home while traveling. The company was launched in August 2015 by daughter-father founders Kate and Mike Torgersen after Kate’s difficulty transporting milk on a business trip. Milk Stork partners with employers to offer the service as an employee benefit or reimbursable travel expense and today has more than 100 corporate partners, including Snapchat, PayPal, OpenTable, SAP, GoDaddy and Viacom. The company says it has successfully sent tens of thousands of "storks" in the U.S. and plans to offer services internationally by the end of the year. The newly announced $900,000 seed financing will be used to hire key positions, amplify marketing efforts and expand service capabilities and reach. Milk Stork’s stated mission is to normalize breastfeeding and motherhood in the workplace by encouraging companies to offer its service as an essential benefit.
