Mimosa Networks builds wireless broadband networking gear that uses unlicensed 5GHz spectrum to deliver high-bandwidth, high-availability links via low-cost base stations and access points. The company says its equipment can provide roughly 10x the speed and 5x the capacity of existing wireless networking gear. Founded and developed over three years by telecom veterans Brian Hinman and Jamie Fink, Mimosa is positioning its products for underserved rural and developing markets as well as mobile backhaul and potential incumbent ISP use cases. It has completed private engagements and ordering and plans to announce its first product line in the coming months as it begins market deployments. Financially, Mimosa has raised $38 million to date from institutional backers and is emerging from stealth to commercialize its technology.
