Overview

Mindflash provides a cloud-based platform for employee and customer training that lets businesses create and manage courses using familiar file types (PowerPoint, PDF, Word, video, audio) without engineering or IT support. Trainers upload and organize files via a simple dashboard, add quizzes and publish to the web to deliver self-paced new hire training, sales training, customer certification courses and more. The platform is used by more than 1,000 organizations. Customers named in the article include McDonalds, Lufthansa, Hilton Hotels, LoanDepot, Johnson Health Tech, Ericsson, Airbnb, Yammer, Shutterfly and Dyson. The company intends to use new funding to continue enhancing its online training platform and to ramp up sales and marketing programs. Mindflash was founded in 1999 and is led by CEO Donna Wells. Mindflash provides a web platform for businesses to deliver employee training, aimed at non-technical users who can upload and share training documents and videos. The product supports quizzes and games to test comprehension and manages the full training workflow from sending invitations to tracking progress and producing real-time reports. Mindflash adds analytics so employers can ensure employees complete online training, positioning itself as a replacement for tools like PowerPoint. The company is led by Donna Wells, formerly Mint’s CMO. Since launching in September 2010, users have completed tens of thousands of courses on topics ranging from sales training to brewing beer. Financially, the company announced a new $4 million funding round, bringing total funding to $9 million. Mindflash offers online, self-driven employee training courses aimed at small businesses. The company has launched a private beta of its training platform. Mindflash recently hired Donna Wells as President and CEO; Wells was previously CMO of Mint.com and has held senior marketing roles at Expedia, Charles Schwab, Intuit, and American Express. The company said it received funding from the Investment Group of Santa Barbara (IGSB). Financial terms of that funding were not disclosed. Mindflash is operating out of Santa Barbara and is focused on building and testing its product in private beta.
