Mingleverse offers an online voice and video chat service built around virtual 3D meeting rooms called MingleRooms that let users converse and share media inside the browser. The company says it now has users in 196 countries. Mingleverse works with cellular carriers and handset makers to deliver a customizable “Live Social Network service” for subscribers. It plans to use the new capital to ramp up marketing for its mobile offering and to integrate into social networking platforms to better meet carrier needs. The product is positioned as a hybrid of WebEx, Skype and Second Life, and the company emphasizes browser-based real-life meeting resemblance. Prior to this round, Mingleverse had earlier raised $440,000 in seed funding.
