Minima is a blockchain startup based in Switzerland and the UK developing a protocol designed to run blockchain nodes on Android smartphones and IoT devices. Its core product allows users to launch a node by downloading an app, with the aim of increasing decentralisation versus farms of computers or staked tokens. The company says only when millions or billions of people can run nodes will blockchains have the necessary protection to secure large amounts of assets. Minima raised $2.5 million and says the fresh cash will be used to finish development of the protocol. The company expects to publicly launch the protocol in October 2021. CEO and co-founder Hugo Feiler framed the project as delivering "true decentralisation."
