Overview
Mirelo is a two-year-old Berlin startup building video-to-audio generative AI, starting with a model called Mirelo SFX v1.5 that analyzes visual content and adds perfectly timed sound effects. Its technology is already published on Fal.ai and Replicate, where API usage is expected to be the company’s near-term revenue driver. Mirelo also offers a freemium plan, with a creator tier priced at €20 per month, and is developing a fuller creative workspace called Mirelo Studio to serve professional users. The 10-person team plans to at least double, if not triple, headcount over the next year to accelerate R&D and go-to-market efforts. Co-founders CJ Simon-Gabriel and Florian Wenzel are both AI researchers and musicians, and have AI music generation on the long-term roadmap, though current market pull is stronger for sound effects. To address copyright concerns, Mirelo trains its models on public and purchased sound libraries and is signing revenue-sharing agreements with rights holders. The company has raised a total of $44 million to date, giving it significant resources to compete with entrants from Sony, Tencent, Kuaishou’s Kling AI, and ElevenLabs.
