Miret Surgical is an Elmhurst, Illinois-based medical device startup developing proprietary laparoscopic surgical products. The company spun out of the Stanford University biodesign program and was founded by Kevin Chao MD, Tom Ruby PhD, Hattie Dong PhD, Christopher Pell MS, Bryan Duggan MS and Avi Roop. Its core products aim to reduce the invasiveness of standard surgical procedures while maintaining economic and procedural parity with the current standard of care. Miret intends to use the newly raised funds to continue product development. Prior to this financing, the company received grant support from the National Collegiate Inventors and Innovators Alliance and the Wallace H. Coulter Foundation. The company is advancing its laparoscopic offerings.
