Fred. Roeskestraat 100, Amsterdam, California, 1076 EE, United States

Overview

Miro provides an online workspace and visual collaboration tools that began as a browser-based digital whiteboard. Its platform integrates with more than 100 apps and offers nearly 1,000 templates to help distributed teams collaborate synchronously and asynchronously. The company says it has 30 million users and counts nearly all Fortune 100 companies as clients, with 20 customers generating more than $1 million in annual recurring revenue each. Since 2020 Miro grew its user base 500% (from 5 million to 30 million) and increased its paying customer base by 550%. Miro was profitable prior to this raise and has doubled headcount over the past 12 months to just over 1,200 employees across 11 global hubs. The company plans to invest the new capital into product and technology development, expanding its enterprise reach and global footprint, and is also exploring M&A opportunities. Miro builds a digital whiteboard platform that enables real-time collaboration and integrations with enterprise tools. The product is positioned as a platform play, allowing integrations and third-party builds on top of the core whiteboard. Usage has surged as businesses and educational customers shifted to remote work during the pandemic, driving strong demand. The company reports it is profitable and has more than 21,000 customers, including 80% of the Fortune 100; customers named include Netflix, Salesforce, PwC, Spotify, Expedia and Deloitte. Miro recently passed 300 employees and says it will hire roughly another 150 staff by year-end to keep up with growth. Leadership says the company is focused on scaling its engineering team and platform capabilities to maintain momentum after the crisis. RealtimeBoard builds a visual collaboration platform that enables digital whiteboarding and serves as a visual hub across the product development lifecycle. The product offers an infinite canvas where teams can sketch, annotate, add posts, create flow charts, draw freehand, and use comments, @mentions, live chat and video conferencing. It integrates with common workforce tools such as Google Docs, Slack, Sketch, Jira, Trello, Dropbox and supports bi-directional integrations with Google Docs, Office 365 and Jira. The company claims 2 million users worldwide and generates revenue by charging for its SaaS on a per-seat basis for teams or company-wide. Customers include HubSpot, Skyscanner, Qlik, Autodesk, Netflix, Twitter, Salesforce, SAP, Ikea and Cisco, and consulting firms such as PwC, McKinsey, BCG and Deloitte. RealtimeBoard is a 150-person company distributed across offices in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Amsterdam and Perm and plans to use new capital to scale customer acquisition, bolster sales and marketing, and grow its user community.
