Overview
Miro Forestry is an integrated sustainable forestry and timber operator producing sawn timber, utility poles, plywood, and energy biomass from rapidly‑growing, FSC‑certified trees for domestic and export markets. The company controls 32,000 hectares of land and has seeded/planted more than 17 million trees, with roughly 15,000 hectares planted on degraded land and 30% under active conservation management. Holdings have sequestered more than 1.3 million tons of CO2 to date, with the ability to sequester an additional 5 million tons by 2030 through expansion. Miro says it is focused on rapidly developing timber processing operations to become a vertically integrated, profitable timber products company with a major focus on plywood. Expansion plans are expected to sustain about 5,000 jobs in Ghana and Sierra Leone and to contribute roughly US$5 million to local communities in wages and local sourcing. The company has made a public commitment to increase women in its workforce from 18% to 40% over two years and has a gender action plan to improve recruitment and retention. Miro Forestry Developments Limited is a plantation and wood-processing company delivering forestry products in Ghana and Sierra Leone.
