Mission Athletecare, launched in 2009 by CEO Josh Shaw and Serena Williams, is a New York-based company that develops thermoregulating products for athletic performance and recovery. Its product line includes instant cooling towels (EnduraCool™), skull caps, sleeves and hats. Products are available at 15,000 retailers across the U.S. The company works with doctors, scientists and athletes to pioneer its thermoregulating offerings. Mission raised $35m in growth capital and intends to deploy the funds for organic growth and M&A expansion in its core cooling and heating categories. As part of the new investment, Hap Klopp, founder and former CEO of The North Face, joined Mission’s board.
