Mitro provides a browser extension that saves passwords and helps users log into sites automatically, with built-in team sharing for families, friends, and enterprises. The extension currently works with Chrome; Firefox and Android are in beta, and Mitro is working on iOS and Safari versions. Passwords are encrypted using public/private keys generated for users and teams, with private keys encrypted by a passphrase and stored on Mitro’s servers. The service tracks devices and sends e-mail verification for new devices and also supports optional two-factor authentication. There is a “Remember Me” option for users who prefer convenience over repeated passphrase entry. The product is free today, and the company has indicated a freemium model could be introduced in the future.
