MiWEndo Solutions, founded in 2019 as a spin-off of UPF, UPC, Clínic‑IDIBAPS and ICREA, develops a new imaging modality that combines microwaves, artificial intelligence and synthetic data for endoscopy. Its core product line includes an accessory for conventional colonoscopes currently in the second phase of a pivotal clinical study, and a next‑generation device under development with LEITAT leading mechanical design and additive manufacturing. The company says the technology aims to provide real‑time functional tissue characterization to decide during colonoscopy whether lesions should be resected, reducing unnecessary biopsies and associated costs. MiWEndo is positioning itself as a platform technology for future endoscopy by shifting from polyp detection to in‑situ lesion characterization. The project is intended to enable more objective, earlier and efficient diagnoses and to guide therapeutic strategy in real time. The company has received €1.2 million in financing to advance development of the new device and reinforce its market positioning. MiWEndo expects its accessory to obtain CE marking by the end of the first quarter of 2026 and continues clinical deployment of its first product.
