MOBIbucks is a Louisville, KY-based provider of mobile payment and mobile marketing solutions. Its patent-pending technology allows users to make purchases using a mobile phone number without needing the phone in their possession. The company also provides a tool that enables banks and merchants to offer coupons, loyalty rewards, and gift cards. Customers include Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB), and MOBIbucks has signed several major U.S. restaurant chains in recent months. Led by founder and CEO Jorge Fernandes and president Tom Recktenwald, the company plans to use new funding to expand internationally. MOBIbucks raised $5m in a Series A round to support growth.
