Mobiplug offers a single-box home hub and companion smartphone apps that link hundreds of WiFi-enabled household items—thermostats, locks, lights, TVs, garage doors and security systems—regardless of manufacturer or protocol. The system is intended to give consumers an affordable, contract-free way to monitor and control mixed wireless devices from their phones. The product was developed out of TechStars Boulder and the company is based in Boulder, CO. Mobiplug is not yet broadly available for purchase but runs an early-adopter program that invites users to test the experience and provide feedback. The company has appointed Tim Enwall as CEO and will use the new investment to drive business development and expand hiring. Planned hires include mobile (iOS and Android) developers, mobile UX/UI, cloud platform engineers, and wireless protocol and embedded Linux engineering.
