Moblyng develops and publishes HTML5 games for mobile devices and social networks, using HTML5 scripting APIs such as JavaScript, CSS, canvas and drag-and-drop. The company partners with game developers and media companies with established brands to create or extend social games to Facebook, MySpace, iPhone, Android, WebOS and Nokia/Symbian. Led by founder and CEO Stewart Putney, Moblyng is headquartered in Redwood City, California. According to an SEC filing, the company raised nearly $7.5M in funding. The filing states the proceeds from the equity financing will be used for general working capital. Moblyng is backed by Mohr Davidow Ventures, Deep Fork Capital, management and angel investors. Moblyng converts embedded Flash slideshow widgets on social networks into formats viewable on most mobile phones. The company scrapes profiles for autoplaying .swf Flash movies and strips layers from the files to expose individual photos. Photos are formatted for display on compatible mobile devices or, for phones that support video, reassembled into mobile-friendly movies that include the original music and effects. Newly formatted files can be sent between users via SMS or Moblyng’s built-in send function. Moblyng launched a beta of its product and announced the closure of a $5.7 million funding round. The company launched as FlipTrack in 2006 and is based in Menlo Park.
