Moby Bikes

Unit 8, 106c Lagan Road Dublin Industrial Estate, Glasnevin, Dublin, D11 DXA9, Ireland

Overview

Founded in 2020, Moby Bikes runs a fleet of about 2,000 shared bikes throughout Ireland and recently relaunched 150 e-cargo bikes in the Netherlands following the acquisition of Cargoroo. The service has surpassed 1.5 million rides and accumulated more than 100,000 registered users, and its vehicles are used by customers such as Domino’s Pizza, the Dutch Police and the European Parliament. Management plans to add roughly 300 bikes per year through 2029, lifting the fleet to more than 3,000 units, while also aiming to acquire one competitor annually and bid on EU-funded cargo-bike tenders. Revenue is projected to nearly quadruple by 2029, reflecting expansion across four countries and three business lines. Last year Moby integrated its Dublin bikes into the FreeNow app, further increasing distribution. Earlier investors from a 2021 crowdfunding round have reportedly seen an eightfold return, and the company is backed by Enterprise Ireland. The new fundraising will support continued fleet growth, European roll-outs of Cargoroo’s 600 historic locations, and pursuit of zero-emission delivery opportunities.
