Modern Age
1296 3rd Avenue, New York, NY, 10021, United States
Overview
Modern Age builds digital tools and a care experience that help users understand and manage their aging, connecting data across nutrition, sleep, fitness, hair, skin, bones and metabolism. Users begin with an assessment that measures how old they feel and identifies the areas of health and wellness most important to them. The company plans to launch initially in the areas of skin, hair, bones and hormones and offers both telemedicine and in-person treatments. Modern Age is led by CEO Melissa Eamer, a former Amazon vice president and Glossier COO, who built the product around customer focus and technology. The company is using new funding to build a flagship clinic in New York’s Flatiron district, hire clinical and medical staff, and expand its team and technology. Modern Age currently has 17 employees and expects to grow to about 50 (not including clinic staff) by the end of 2022. Modern Age develops a digital platform and plans in-person treatment centers to help people manage aging proactively, combining telehealth with clinic services. Its software uses computer vision and machine learning to assess skin, hair and bone health and ingests data from FitBit and Apple Watch devices to build longitudinal health records. The tools aim to diagnose issues, match users with treatments, and integrate fitness, nutrition and community features. The company targets primarily women aged 35 to 45 but notes men are similarly affected. Modern Age employs 12 people, plans to hire its own medical team, and intends to open its first clinic in New York before expanding. The company estimates a total addressable market of $120 billion and plans to launch in early 2022.
