Modyfi, founded in 2022 by CEO Joe Burfitt, is a collaborative, AI-native, web-based design and image creation platform and editor. It combines essential design and image-making tools with AI-powered creative technology to give professional graphic designers control while allowing playful exploration. Since June the company has issued new features weekly, including proprietary in-painting, generative-fill, SDXL and use of Meta’s SAM for layer splitting. These additions augment existing functionality such as background removal, smart delete and its flagship image-guided generation. Modyfi is used by thousands of designers from hundreds of companies — including Nvidia, Stripe, Calm, Red Antler, Route and Spotify — to simplify collaboration across the design process via generative AI. The company intends to use the $7M seed funds to accelerate early user adoption and continue product development.
